Angola is developing a national Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system for the energy sector, led by the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Energy and Water, with support from UNDP’s Climate Promise under the Enhancing Climate Transparency (ECT) initiative.

The project, coordinated by the National Directorate of Climate Change and Sustainable Development, aims to strengthen Angola’s capacity to measure and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and track climate actions in line with the Paris Agreement. Through institutional reforms, data system development, and capacity building, Angola seeks to establish a robust and transparent framework for energy-related climate reporting.

The initiative also contributes to regional transparency goals for Lusophone and Francophone countries by leveraging technical support from the Transparency Helpdesk and other ECT tools.
